HISTORY

I have owned my Renault 17 TS since 1981 purchased for £2800 from Canford Cliff Motors as a replacement for my 1973 Renault 17 TL, it was indeed my every day driver and used for work

The car was repaired and resprayed during 1995.

I joined the WVPC around about 1996 and began to use the car as a show car as well as my every day car untill I purchased a Renault 25 and the 17 was then used more as my club car.

She was used up untill 2010 when I decided to use my Alpine as a show car and has been off the road since

The time had come when I had to decide if I was to sell her, break her for valuable spares or restore her to a reasonable condition again, finding out that there were only 2 Renault 17 TS Series 2  on the road registered with DVLA I decided that she must be restored and saved.

Not being an expert in car restoration I realised I needed some help but could do most of the donkey work myself so off came the wings. doors, front and back bumpers and trim and after some pocking around I found a lot of rust in the A pillers and rear valence with minor rust to the floorpans and cills plus the usual rust to the bottom of the 2 doors

Speaking with club member Tony Bevin I was given a contact No for a local welder Jack Dawe who came along and agreed he would carry out the major welding to the areas you can see in the photos

Following several visits all the welding has been completed and I can now set about tidying up the areas, carry out some rust prevention to the cavities and make a start on the bodywork ETC.

If anyone is looking for a good mobile welder I can recommend Jack and he can contacted on
